St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated each year on March 17. The Irish people have observed March 17th as a as a religious holiday since 1631. St. Patrick’s Day is during the Christian season of Lent. St. Patrick’s day parades started in the 1700’s and it was always an elaborate celebration which was fun for all. Chicago colors its river green, green beer has been a staple for a long time. Many people wear green this day otherwise a ‘pinch’ will be in order. We always celebrated with Ham and Cabbage, some have corned beef and cabbage and a must is Irish soda bread. Whether your Irish or not go out and enjoy this holiday and remember wear your green.
